Monthly Prayer Leaflet for the Rosary Teams

No.353 - April 2011

Our theme for the year:
“I saw a huge crowd”

Touch wood!

Who among us has not heard this expression used? Does it happen to us to “touch wood” or to “cross our fingers”?
Those gestures are supposed to prevent a stick in the spokes of the wheels of our projects.

Does this attitude come from superstitions or simply a reflex?
Why such an attitude if we are believers?
This can be a great opportunity for evangelization and of simple witness.

In fact, this superstitious gesture is really a sign that mankind is “attracted “from within to one greater than him or her, even if he/she does not know Him.
A sign that all “can” know God.
We need concrete things, we need to make our emotions part of what constitutes our faith life.

It can be good then to touch the cross, the beads of a rosary or to look at an image to consciously put ourselves in God’s presence. For, if we can touch wood, it is rightly the wood of the cross. This wood, on which Jesus was crucified, in order to help us live our small daily deaths and into a resurrection to a life always new.
