Going up to Jerusalem

Monthly Prayer Leaflet for the Rosary Teams

Our theme for the year:
“Great is the mystery of faith”

The road leading to Easter -the path of Lent- is an uphill path.

It takes strength and courage to be well prepared for the vital part of our salvation which is the Holy Week. On Maundy Thursday of that week, Jesus gave his life for the salvation of mankind; on the Cross, Jesus' life was violently torn away from him by these people who "did not know what they were doing"; and God raised Jesus from the dead, making of him the first born from the dead.

The salvation that we received from Christ, freed us from the flood that threatened to carry us away and drown us; we are talking about the fascination of evil and endless violence.

Jesus is the way that leads us to Truth and to Life. Since his baptism, he has walked on all our roads, starting from the lowest point of the world's relief, that is under 500 metres below the sea level where he was plunged into the waters of the Jordan by John the Baptist, up to more than 700 metres above sea level, to Jerusalem where he lived his Passion.

Let us move up to the Passover of Jesus, our Saviour.

The Gospel with Mary gives us the necessary courage and strength to move upwards.

As she did at Cana, Mary places in front of Jesus all our needs and our human shortcomings.

Jesus responds to our needs by giving us the wedding wine that comes from God, and from our humanity.

As we focus our eyes on Jesus who goes up to Jerusalem, let us get trained in our Teams to provide courage for one another.

When we reached the summit of Calvary, we receive the light of the Risen Christ!

While we undergo the difficulty and effort needed on the rising track, we need to be supportive with, and join in prayer all those who are suffering from the indifference of people.

We must particularly think of the inhabitants of Syria and the Central African Republic.
